The Atlanta Falcons have added an undrafted free agent offensive lineman to the roster that had been headed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Atlanta Falcons have had a bustling week, bolstering their squad after the NFL Draft by snagging eight players and now adding undrafted free agents to their roster.

Their latest recruit hails from Northern Illinois, an offensive lineman who was initially set for a tryout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brett Tressler, his agent, announced the signing, highlighting the chance for his client, Nolan Potter, to compete at both tackle and guard positions with the Falcons, noting interest from other teams as well.

According to Greg Augman of FoxSports, the Falcons’ offer swayed Potter from his intended tryout with the Buccaneers, securing him a spot on the Falcons’ 90-man roster.

Potter, a 6’6″, 301-pound athlete from Northern Illinois, boasts an impressive track record, starting 43 out of 45 games at offensive tackle for the Huskies and earning first-team All-MAC honors in 2022 and 2023.

During his pro day, Potter measured slightly shorter at 6’5 5/8″ and slightly heavier at 310 pounds. He showcased his athleticism with a 5.24 forty-yard dash time, a 1.71 10-yard split, and a 27-inch vertical jump, according to NFL Draft Scout.

Although the Falcons didn’t draft any offensive linemen, they’ve now welcomed Potter alongside Richmond’s Ryan Coll, marking the second undrafted free agent offensive lineman to join their roster. Coll, measuring 6’5″ and 308 pounds, impressed with a 5.1 forty-yard dash at his pro day, showcasing his potential as an interior line prospect.
