On Tuesday, Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham and the Sun Devils secured a commitment from former Houston safety Maurice Williams Jr.
Williams, entering his sophomore year in 2025, played in 10 games as a true freshman last season for a Houston defense that was among the toughest in the Big 12.
Standing at 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, Williams was rated a four-star recruit by Rivals coming out of high school and received offers from over 20 programs.
In 2024, he saw action on 99 total snaps—most of them on special teams—according to Pro Football Focus.
Now at Arizona State, Williams will aim to develop under a seasoned and skilled defensive unit in Tempe, with hopes of making a future impact for the Sun Devils.
ASU kicks off its 2025 season against Northern Arizona on August 30.
